# How do I know SMS filtering is enabled on my phone?

For iOS, SMS filtering will need to be switched on for ScamShield under **Unknown & Spam** settings.

For Android, ScamShield will need to be allowed to **send and view SMSes**, **send notifications** and **access your contacts** in the settings.

For more information, please refer to our section on [Setup SMS Filtering](/getting-started/setup-sms-filtering.md). If you'd like to see where the SMSes are being filtered, please refer to our FAQ on "[Will I be able to see the SMSes that get filtered?](/resources/help-center/sms-filtering/will-i-be-able-to-see-the-smses-that-get-filtered.md)"
